JOHN MILTON BIOGRAPHY AND IMPORTANT WORK
JOHN MILTON :
Born- London, England in 1608
Death- Bunhill Row in 1674
John Milton is a puritan and supported in Civil War.
He has written number of pamphlets. His works are divided into three periods:
1. College Period
2. Horton Period
3. Late Poetic Period
Writing Style: Grand style and used Petrarchan Sonnet, Blank Verse in his famous work Paradise Lost.
College Period:
He has written four minor poems- L'Allegro , Il penseroso, Comus and Lycidas.
Late Poetic Period:
He has written famous works called Paradise Lost (1673), Paradise Regained, Samson Agonistes.
Prose Writing:
Best work 'Areopagitica' about freedom of speech and thought. This work talked for the freedom of Press during 17th Century.
